Zoo Day!

Monday, April 15, 2019

Admittedly, after that hailstorm last August that destroyed our van, we were absent from the zoo for a long time. Part of that was due to all the road tripping, Shad coming back home unexpectedly, fall holiday chaos, trying to refigure life, etc, etc. But...another part was that none of us really felt the draw to go back. When we finally did, we did some new things we haven't done before!

Okay, Dancy with a zebra isn't anything new, but it's kind of a standard.

Thora got really excited with the meerkats.

Katie and Tommy wanted elephant pictures.

Our howler monkey had a baby! See its little head by her right hand?

Ballroom dancing to the carousel music, of course!

Here's the new stuff! We've never fed the goats before. $1 for a cup of feed which you can feed to the goats directly through the fence...

...or put in a cup for a goat to wheel to the top, eat, and return!

Oh, the delight!

"I feeded Ella!" The goat's name is Mozzarella, but Ella is the important part, right?

Now, Tommy and Dancy tend to be skiddish when it comes to touching animals, but I'm a shameless mom, right? That means that I have no issue saying, "I'll give you all a quarter for each animal you touch." And so that's why there's now a string of pictures showing my kids touching goats, snakes, and chickens!

Yay for stepping out of comfort zones and trying new things! And guess what? Nobody died of fright!

These two are a contrary pair if ever there was one and it's so refreshing when they bond together for things like this requested posed picture!

"Go, Antie, go!" Because the ant is a bus taking them to the park.

We ended the day with swim lessons...

...and moving the bus to Amy's house, finding out we couldn't get it up the driveway, and moving it back to the field from whence it came.
