Paint Mines

Friday, May 3

Thora had been craving mussels for a couple weeks. When we were having morning cuddles this day, I told her that it was her mussel day and I was gonna cook them for dinner. And we'd have yogurt parfait (or something) for breakfast. She agreed to these terms. Then we went down for breakfast and she pouted that I wasn't feeding her mussels.

Bloody hell, girl, I'll cook up some mussels real quick! Pretty sure it made her day.

Once Miss Diva got her fill of mussels for breakfast, we were able to get on our way to the Paint Mines.

I swear, this picture is 100% candid. I asked Thora if she could smile (she could not, her smiling power was gone) and everyone looked over at her. Story of almost every picture we take and it makes me laugh!

Hooray! Smiling power came back!

And crazy faces. The promise of this picture is what helped smiling power to come back.

These beautiful canary wildflowers were everywhere! I should start identifying my wildflower finds.

To the hoodoos!

Hoodoo (noun): a natural column of rock in western North America often in fantastic form
(Merriam-Webster)
Fantastic form, indeed!

Bum Skiing

So brittle and flaky!

I see yo' belly, boy!

Dancy got really creative and intricate with her sand castle.

Kids tell about the Paint Mines

Thora plugging her ears to block out the drone flying overhead.

We don't pick flowers in national parks or places of preservation like the Paint Mines. So what can we do with them? Take pictures, touch, count, smell.

Katie made sand art. Then it started to blow away. Now we know spit isn't good enough!

And then AFTER the Paint Mines...

Got ma nose pierced!

We went on a dinner date to the Korean restaurant by us.
