Nomad UT/LV Trip, Day 11: American Fork

September 27, 2018

Shad got released this morning, along with another captive from Med Hold. They were so excited to celebrate with ice cream!

Meanwhile, back in American Fork, my cousins were at school, aunt and uncle at work, and I was feeling a need to unwind with my book and a cup of tea. Of course, once the small humans heard the back door open, my back patio retreat was ruined. So I let them have the outdoors and I took the recliner and ottoman. If you want a window into Harper Lee's life, I recommend her only approved biography: The Mockingbird Next Door: Life With Harper Lee, by Marja Mills. Tyler, "Cold Cereal Receptacle" my butt! This mug is meant for tea...sweet, soothing, luxurious licorice tea!

Later in the day, Facebook posts made me aware that it was National Daughter's Day, so I took a picture of my ladies and wrote this:

I was terrified to have a daughter. And then another. And then another. I really thought I was just cut out for sons. I mean, can I handle all the glitter, frills, and unicorns? And then pettiness in the teen years? But I love my Little Women in all their strong, fierce, independent ways. I can handle the glitter, frills, and unicorns, and teach them not to be petty. Happy Daughters' Day!

Suzanne has berry bushes galore! Raspberries and blackberries forever!

Raspberry juice all over Five's face.

It's hard to tell because Five loves so many cousins intensely, but it's quite possible that Drew is the favorite.

I also did a little travel agenting and got Shad a morning flight from Denver to Salt Lake City so he could join us since we still had 5 days left on our trip. His mom picked him up from the Colorado Springs airport, they slept at our house, packed a bag of civilian clothes, and drove to DIA the next day for a morning flight.
